PUBLIC ART
Murals and Public
I began painting murals in 1971 with “The History of Venice” murals at the Venice Pavilion in Venice, CA. That began my career as a public artist and muralist which I have continued to this day. My most recent mural commission, 2021, at the BAR Center on the Beach for the Jewish Federation, is a digital version of my mural, “Chagall Returns to Venice Beach.”
I love public art because no one owns it, and it is accessible to all. It brings beauty and, in some cases, pointed messages. I have worked with students of all ages to create murals in schools and with senior citizens to create murals in senior centers in California, Colorado, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York. My public art, community based and collaborative, is an important part of my work.
