I realized I had never seen paintings of tomboys. The tomboy paintings depict a scrappy little girl with her precious artifacts: marbles, jacks, Swiss army knife. The tomboy paintings include typical tomboy clothes, flannels and plaids, collaged to the surface of the painting.
The nudes show a grown up tomboy, athletic, confident in her body, a little racy.
